We’re often asked questions involving prices, travel policies, timelines for delivery, video, and other wedding coverage details. I've compiled the most-asked questions here for you. WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?
Over 90% of the day is candid. Rather than posed shots, our photography captures candid or spontaneous pictures of people, decor and moments. Our styles incorporates fine art wedding photography with documentary photography. We still find joy in posing the wedding party after the ceremony. We love those clean groomsmen-bridesmaid-groomsmen-bridesmaid poses where you and your wedding party comes together and for some really bright and sharp photos, but we’re not going to grab shoulders or adjust chins and make you feel super awkward like it’s a 4th grade picture day.
WHY SHOULD WE BOOK WITH YOU?
Because we will take care of you as if you were family. Period. We will help you craft a timeline that allows your day to be your day, just how you want it. Because we will be here for you, as a resource with almost tons of experience, skill and professionalism. You can trust that we got you, and your images will be amazing. Our job is to take great pictures for you, yes, but also to help remove all of the stress from your wedding day so that you can enjoy it completely! We’re more than just the people with cameras, we’re much more like family who will make sure we take care of you on your most special day.
WHAT COMES WITH YOUR WEDDING PACKAGES?
All packages include the following:
At least one professional photographer
You’re guaranteed 350-500+ fully edited, high resolution photos in color and black + white
Private online gallery of photos for viewing, sharing with friends and family, and free unlimited downloads.
Couples can choose to add-on from there! I think that’s a great starting point. We have A La Carte options such as the popular Selfie Booth, you can also add video with one of our Wedding Films.
DO YOU EDIT THE PHOTOS?
Yes! Every image that you receive has been hand-edited, one at a time, without batching in bulk groups or adding a template to all and hitting save. Our highly trained editing team also selects a few favorites for special attention above and beyond the individual image editing, and those are typically the portrait session we have with the couple after the ceremony. Editing is often a tedious process that we find quite enjoyable. It takes time and patience but we’re experts at making your photos beautiful. We do not do photo manipulation i.e making someone skinner or fattier. However, if photos need extra attention such as scars, pimples, or an awkward neon EXIT sign above your heads during the first kiss (yes, this has happened), we’ll do our best to take those out.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED AND HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL?
We live in the beautiful city of Chicago - which is where our studio is. We will travel as far as you want us! We’ve photographed in LA, ATL, D.C and we’ve done a beautiful engagement/proposal session in South Africa. We are very, very comfortable traveling for events. Rest assured that should you book us to cover your wedding and travel to you, then you are hiring a team very experienced with travel for business. We strongly recommend booking local photographers for a destination wedding. The notion that it would be easier to book at the international location seems logical, but in reality their rates can be very high and we’ve heard horror stories of photographers not getting back with couples, or taking extended months to give them their photos and videos. When you book with local photographers, it’s easier to meet with them before the trip, have phone meetings, and you are more likely to get to know them and their work prior to arriving at your overseas location. Destination/Travel Weddings are very simply after receiving your package – you cover airfare, 2-night hotel stay and rental car are needed.
DO YOU ALSO PROVIDE WEDDING VIDEOS?
Yessss. We have two very talented videographers on the team, and multiple pricing options for our Wedding Films. We have the 3min highlight in a music video format, and a 6-7min highlight Wedding Film which includes a bit more with voiceovers. Since we customize packages, they can be included in any package you would like. However, the 3min highlight video option can not be purchased alone, but must be paired with a photography package.
WHAT TYPES OF PHOTOGRAPHY DO YOU DO?
We specialize in weddings and engagement shoots. That’s our main focus and expertise. However, portraits and events such as bridal showers, engagement parties, birthday parties, anniversary parties, and family gatherings are what we tend to also love and book outside of weddings..
WHAT IF I HAVE A SMALL WEDDING AND JUST NEED ONE PHOTOGRAPHER?
We don’t mind creating a package for that. Although 1 photographer is common at smaller weddings, we still highly recommend adding an assistant to that package. Weddings can be very fun and exciting but fatigue can play a role when you’re going from location to location with equipment, and shooting for 8 to 12 hours. Our assistant photographers functions as both a photographer and an assistant. He or she is a second vantage point for many of the key moments of the day, while providing aid with lighting, organizing, and managing logistics of other key parts of your day. .
DO YOU KNOW IF WE NEED A PERMIT TO TAKE PHOTOS AT CERTAIN LOCATIONS?
I would love to help you with this, but the answer is that I'm not sure. If you're getting married on-site, the chances that you'll need a permit are very small. If you're leaving your venue and going somewhere else, a permit may be required. There are many places that do require you to get a permit. In most cases the permit has to be obtained by the client, not the photographer. If you have a question about a location, just let me know and we will help you figure out if a permit is needed. If we try to shoot in a location that requires a permit, and we don't have one, we'll be asked to leave. We don't want that to happen to us so we can talk to figure things out in advance!
DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?
Yup! We are fully insurance and if your venue needs us to provide that, we got you.
CAN WE HAVE COLOR AND BLACK & WHITE PHOTOS?
They can! We don’t provide a ton of black and white but around 10-15% of your photos will be. The most key moments will be in color while providing alternative shots to the same scene in black and white.
HOW LONG BEFORE WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS/VIDEO?
Not too long!. Online galleries are posted within three to six weeks of the wedding date, and this is when your digital files are released as well. Upon final approval of album designs (if selected), most albums are ready for delivery within 8 weeks. Lastly, depending on the Wedding Films package, delivery time could be as early as 3 weeks, but could take up to 8 weeks as well. Trust that a lot of time goes into editing an 8-10 hour day into a 5-7min our Wedding Film. Attention to detail is important, as well as timelines so we make sure we’re in constant communication with you during the editing process!
WHEN SHOULD WE BOOK YOU?
ASAP. Seriously, we get close to 30 emails a week requesting our services for weddings, engagement shoots, and events! Since we can't "hold" dates or "pencil you in", dates are booked when...well, when they're booked. Most of our couples contract us within a year of the wedding date, sometimes as close as two months prior, sometimes a full calendar year or more in advance! It's easy to predict what will be popular weekends, but not always easy to predict when those weekends will book up! Click here to email us now!
WILL OUR PICTURES HAVE YOUR LOGO WATERMARKED?
Nope! The high resolution photos you’ll be receiving do not bear any watermarks. That would be tragic.
HOW MANY PICTURES DO WE GET?
ALLOFUM!! Nah, the number of photographs you receive depends on a number of things. We generally take around 4,000-5,000 images during a typical 8-10hr wedding day. The number you receive, depends on many things - the number of guests, hours of coverage, types of events, number of people dancing/hours of dancing, and so forth. Our average for an 8-10hr day with one photographer is 450-500 images.
DO WE GET TO KEEP THE UNEDITED PHOTOS?
If you want we don’t mind at all. You would just need to purchase am external drive so we can save them and we’ll ship it to you. We do retain the copyright to the images and the right to use them for promotional purposes. However, you can get them printed at any time.
IF WE NEED TO CANCEL, DO WE RECEIVE A REFUND?
The deposit fee is non-refundable. The deposit guarantees that I'll hold the date exclusively for you and once you've signed the contract we do turn down all other commissions for that date. If you need to re-schedule, we can work with that but a fee will be applied if the rescheduling occurs within 90 days of the original wedding date.
WHAT IF OUR PHOTOGRAPHER DIES?
If we die we can guarantee we will not be at your wedding - which would be very sad. Okay, maybe not DIE die, but what if we’re very sick? In close to a decade of shooting weddings, we have NEVER missed a single wedding for any reason. Please know that we take the responsibility of shooting your wedding extremely serious, and wouldn't just "call in sick" without a very grave, serious reason behind it. If that were to happen, we would find you a replacement photographer with the same skill level that we possess. If this is something that concerns you, please contact us and we can talk! We promise that this is a situation that we plan for carefully, and hope we never have to execute that plan!
DO YOU HAVE PROMOTIONS OR DISCOUNTS?
Occasionally promotions are posted on our Facebook page. You won’t see a whole bunch, but you really have to follow our fBook page because we don’t post info on that here because it looks like those infomercials “Buy one photographer and get one half off!” Nah, won’t see that lol but follow us our Facebook page. We’ve had couples receive great packages from our promotions. We do offset cost for week day weddings especially during the “off-season”. Black Friday and New Years Day is also a guaranteed time where you’ll see us roll out quick promotions. We also have payment plans in place before your wedding if need be. However, If you have concerns about your budgetary needs, please contact us and let me know.
DO WE FEED YOU AT THE RECEPTION OR NAH?
Well…feeding us ensures we stay cheerful, active, and that we don't die. So, yes lol We prefer to be fed when you are fed, not afterwards, because when you're eating you're not at your most photogenic. And when you're done, we want to be done as well to continue your coverage. We don’t bring much food to weddings because it’s extra, so yes.
CAN OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TAKE PICTURES AT THE WEDDING?
Of course they can and it doesn't bother us! We do request they not swarm the family photographs right away because we'd prefer all eyes facing our camera in your images, but we don't mind at all if they snap away during the day. Sometimes guest can be distracting during the ceremony when they pull out their 200 inch iPad Pro, but other than that it’s fine. The only small request we have is that there isn’t that one uncle who also is a “photographer” and want’s to take photos in front of us with his camera. If that shouldn’t be a problem, we’re good lol The only real issue that we’ve run up against was family member who take their pro or semi pro cameras to the wedding and unintentionally obstruct our view during key moments. However, we truly welcome cameras during dancing, cake cutting, and other events.
Is it M28 (Two Eight) or M28 (Twenty-Eight)?
It’s Twenty-Eight. Mack and Marcus were born on the 28th day of their respective months. Their first initial starts with an M…there you go. Corny but yeah.
